She was one of the flagship presenters of the PAF in the years 2000 and 2010. Revealed thanks to the show Kindergartens on France 5, Maïtena Biraben arrived in 2004 on Canal + where she presented We are not angels for two years then The New Explorers. If these programs end quickly, the journalist will subsequently be associated with bigger projects.
Presenter of The Morning for four yearsshe then officiates as conductor of the Extra charge during three years. At the start of the 2015 school year, she took the reins of the legendary Grand Journal. But the experience was cut short and the host even found herself fired by Canal +. A legal battle lasting several years followed between the channel and its former flagship host who ended up winning her case against her former employers.
A book and a new media
Discreet in the media, Maïtena Biraben makes a resounding return, in May 2024. First of all thanks to the release of her book, The Invisible Woman (Graset editions), in which she talks about her turn in her fifties which she evokes as “an adolescent crisis equipped with a brain.”
In addition, the journalist is also launching a new media, Ladies, with his production company. Or a 100% digital platform designed for and with women over 45 years old.
Maïtena Biraben: “We can do other things in life”
With our colleagues from Parisian, the former host of Grand Journal spoke about this new adventure : “You shouldn’t expect to find Netflix or Amazon at launch. (…) We will post one video per day. And I hope that other women will gradually join us in animation.”
A new media with which Maïtena Biraben feels in tune and which in no way makes him regret his years on televisionas she points out: “I loved TV. I’ve been doing this for 30 years, it’s good. We can do other things in life.” The page of the small screen therefore seems definitively turned.
